Strategic Collaboration Toward ‘Glocal University 30’ Initiative

On March 25, Korea University Sejong Campus signed a memorandum of understanding(MOU) with the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs(KIHASA) in a ceremony held at KIHASA headquarters.

The agreement aims to solidify strategic cooperation between the two institutions under the Ministry of Education’s University 30’ initiative. This national program seeks to enhance the global competitiveness of universities while promoting balanced regional development and contributing to national growth. Under the agreement, Korea University and KIHASA will collaborate across several key areas, including joint research and academic exchange on national policy and regional issues, personnel exchanges to foster mutual development, co-development and operation of practice-oriented academic curricula, and implementation of field training and internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students.

This partnership leverages Korea University’s strengths in education and research and KIHASA’s extensive experience in policy development. The institutions aim to strengthen ties with the local community centered around Sejong City, while working toward the shared goal of establishing Sejong as a strategic city of the future.

Furthermore, the two organizations plan to form a ‘Glocal University Promotion Committee’ to advance the terms of the agreement, identify sustainable collaborative projects, and contribute meaningfully to both regional and national development.

This MOU is part of the broader ‘K-Think Tank’ initiative, which envisions collaboration among Korea University, Sejong City, and national research institutions. It is expected to serve as a pioneering model for university innovation and regional co-prosperity under the Glocal University 30 framework.
